3GS AVI Support

Morning fellas,

Am an Iphone noob here and am getting a 16gb 3gs though orange in the next week or so.

Just wondered if you can view AVI files on it as I may or may not have some movies in this format?

Cheers dudes, am looking forward to seeing what it can do, so will be checking this forum regularly!

Re: 3GS AVI Support

You'd need to install some apps from Cydia to play natively.

You can also use the video to iPhone tool from DVDVideoSoft.com: Download free DVD, iPod, YouTube video converter and editor software and freeware to make a MP4 file which you can then sync into iTunes and onto the phone.

Re: 3GS AVI Support

Converting them is by far the best option, as then you can just drag 'em into iTunes and view them natively.

Any jailbreak solutions for viewing unsupported video formats that I've tried in the past, have been pretty unimpressive - plus you have to put the videos on by SSH.

cheers guys, I will give those a look. Both look great but the videora maybe the one as it rips DVD's into ITunes too.

Re: 3GS AVI Support

Check out Air Video app in the store. It will stream your AVI files via wifi or 3G, converting them on the fly, or can convert them for you.

Agreed. Much as I love jailbreaking, Apple's implementation of MP4 seems to be the easiest work on the iPhone's CPU in terms of smooth playback.
