Reverting Back iphone software!

Hi All! i have just purchased an iphone docking station to play my music back thru my hifi and it works well, but i cant use the remote control supplied with it unless i have iphone 2.0. or earlier SW on my phone. I purchased my phone last Dec and i think the SW version on it was 2.0.1 at that time, so even if i do a restore to factory on it, the remote will still not work.

Is their anyway around this please, Thanks for any help.

Re: Reverting Back iphone software!

If you can find a restore image file for 2.0, you can force iTunes to load it onto your iPhone - have a Google, but I seem to recall it is a question of holding the shift key down when you press "restore firmware" in iTunes, which then allows you to select the file to upload.

One caveat - the modem firmware on the iPhone can't be rolled back to a previous version; it can only be upgraded. If the modem firmware on your iPhone isn't compatible with older firmware, you won't be able to make phone calls or use the data link...

Re: Reverting Back iphone software!

Ok Thanks for the reply! so that means if the orginal firmware version on my phone is not the 2.0. my phone would not work right if i tried to load an older version on it.

Also is their anyway of knowing the orginal firmware other than do a restore.

Re: Reverting Back iphone software!

I'm confused as to why the remote only works with firmware 2.0 or earlier. Typically things require newer firmware for compatibility; I'm not aware of any firmware updates that have removed compatibility with accessories?!?

Re: Reverting Back iphone software!

Well that is what i noticed on ebay in his advert, i admit i see it after i had purchased it, but it works ok without the remote and it plays the music excellent thru my hifi equipment.

I found another last night which is suppose to work with all version of iphone and ipod with its remote so lets hope is so.

Thanks for your reply btw!
