Selling an Iphone to online recycler.

Hi There,

I am thinking of selling my iphone 3G 8gb to mopay. They have a good cash offer but there voucher offer is nearl £200 for Arcadia vouchers( Topshop topman etc). Is this a good offer for the phone? £200 in vouchers will be very handy with me having to get a load of xmas pressies this year.

Thank you.

Re: Selling an Iphone to online recycler.

You could probably get a similar amount by selling it on AVForums in the For Sale section, as long as it's in good condition and fully working.

Re: Selling an Iphone to online recycler.

Shouldn't this be moved to the 'For Sale' section?

The old "is this a good price?" to draw in offers is an old trick.

The OP is asking for advice, if they wish to turn it into a For Sale Advert it will be removed as per the rules. But until then we will treat it as it is written, as a request for advice.

Re: Selling an Iphone to online recycler.

Check the small print first - I sold a phone to one of these places - the amount they paid me was lower than the initial quote due to some issues they said the phone had. The problem is that if you don't agree with their new valuation (once they have received the phone), it's sometimes impossible to get it back. That was my experience with 'mobile phone exchange' anyway.

Selling for cash on the classifieds here might be a safer bet.

Re: Selling an Iphone to online recycler.

Just be aware that CEX and many other similar companies will use any excuse possible to not pay the advertised amount. The T&C's that go along with their valuation is dependent on the phone being in A1 condition with all accessories. If you have the tiniest of all marks on it, the price will drop.

It is wise to bring this to peoples attention. Just makes people think before the:

"i'll give you the £200 for it" post.
