My Iphone from HK was stolen from Parcelforce Van

I went to Parcelforce office to collect my Iphone 3GS 16GB from Hong Kong that I bought thru' eBay. Only for the manager to tell me that their van of 3 weeks old was broken into and my Iphone is one of the 10 items missing from the van.

The manager said I should inform PayPal and everything will be resolved.

How do I go about it? Has anyone had a similar problem? Please tell me.

Thanks

Re: My Iphone from HK was stolen from Parcelforce Van

I would advise getting it in writing from Parcelforce and take the contact details of the manager.

I'm not sure who is liable and should compensate you, Parcelforce or Paypal

if parcelforce had left you a letter stating that it was ready for collection, surley thay are responsible, had something similar with a book i bought ,had the card from post office left thro door and when i went to collect they couldnt find the book, after what seems liked weeks finaly got a refund off the post office for the book but had to fill in some forms and provide the reciept form where i purchased it.

Re: My Iphone from HK was stolen from Parcelforce Van

If I type in my tracking number on their website, it says "STOLEN FROM VAN". The manager said I should inform PayPal and PayPal will refund me my money

also depends on what level of insurance the item was posted with though, if it wasnt insured parcelforce arent liable.. posted within the UK all parcelforce items are insured to some level but I'm guessing items coming via an international courier will have different levels of coverage.

It's down to ParcelForce's insurance company.

How can it be anything other than Parcelforce's fault?

You don't have to go through Paypal.

as I said, it depends on what level of insurance was taken by the sender.

also
Quote:
All claims must be made by the sender. If you are the recipient, please contact the sender to make the claim.
thats probably what they mean by contacting paypal.. the onus it seems is on the seller to refund you and then to obtain their money from parcelforce.

It's not a question of it being parcelforces fault, its that their contract is with the seller/sender not the purchaser/receiver so their obligation is to provide a claim to the sender and for the sender/seller to refund the purchaser i.e. you.

True, the item still belongs to the seller until it has been delivered.

Re: My Iphone from HK was stolen from Parcelforce Van

As long as the seller has insurance they should make the claim and refund you your money.

I had a mobile phone stolen while it was in transit (from hong kong) with parcel force, some swine had torn the box open and nabbed the phone - I actually ended up getting the empty torn box sent to me by dabs.com saying they had received it in that condition and at parcel forces error. Parcel force's system however said it was being sent back to hong kong even through i had the box and shipping note.

I called paypal who told me to go to the police and the police said there is nothing they can do. In the end i contacted the seller through the paypal dispute system, sent him the evidence (the fact i had the destroyed box but parcel force system said it was still in transit) and got a full refund through the seller who claimed off the hong kong post office.

Since then i always add insurance when buying from international ebay sellers.

Re: My Iphone from HK was stolen from Parcelforce Van

I opened a "diputes & claim" with paypal and the seller escalated it to claim from paypal

The seller provided the tracking number and the courier service name

The Paypal next action will be on 3rd Nov, so hopefully I'll get my money back

Re: My Iphone from HK was stolen from Parcelforce Van

that is a load of c**p from parcelforce. Its not your fault nor theres that it was stolen, however its there job to make sure that every item in there possesion is secured, they should call the police and claim against there insurers, this would be treated as a burgelrey or theft and they claim from there insurers simple as that!

yes but parcelforces contract is with the sender.... the person who paid for delivery not whoever it is being sent to. parcelforce will undoubtably refund the seller so that is where his refund needs to come from.
