Magnetic holder for IPhone any good ???

Hi guys,

I have been looking for a cheap holder for my IPhone for in the car, and am not after the sucker on the windscreen type as it constantly needs removing, etc.

I am either looking for a cheap vent holder type off ebay (around a fiver) or was thinking of a type I used to use with my Samsung G600, just a standard circular magnet which sticks on the dash and a small thin piece that sticks on the back of the phone. This worked a treat previously as dead simple to use and easy to get hold of for a couple of quid on the net.

My question is, would the magnet interfere or ruin the hard drive on the phone ??? It worked fine with my old Samsung phone, but obvioulsy the IPhone is far more superior and I would not like to risk wiping the memory or hard drive, etc, as I know magnets and hard drives do not mix well together !!!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks, Steve.

Re: Magnetic holder for IPhone any good ???

No HDD in an iPhone so nothing to screw up with magnets.

However, I tried this solution and found that every time i pressed the screen to do something the whole phone tilted and fell off. Utterly hopeless.

Re: Magnetic holder for IPhone any good ???

Didn't someone on this forum have problems with his phone signal when using a magnetic holder?

Yes, it was me.
Im not saying that this will happen to everyone (there is some fella who uses magnets no problems) but my advice is not to risk it :

Using a magnet makes me lose reception. Is this right ??

Re: Magnetic holder for IPhone any good ???

Thanks for the advice guys.

Looking at your replies, I think it may make sense to go for either a vent or windscreen holder instead of magnet as planned !!!

Cheers again,

Steve.
