Thanks: Gave 122, Got 102 | Buy now or wait?
Hi All,
I am slowly being drawn towards the iphone 3GS and it is my birthday in a week or so was thinking of getting myself one. I have a ipod touch and think the extra functionality that the iphone brings may be worth the extra.
I was wondering if it was worth holding on for any advances, changes or Xmas promos etc?
So far it looks like i can get one from O2 for around £90 for a 16Gb version and around £35 per month.
So to buy or not to buy??
Cheers!

TBH I'd wait a while longer as Orange should be releasing the Iphone very soon (believe it was initially meant to be October)
And once they do release it the prices should fall as they fight for competition, even more so once Vodafone sell it in the new year.
the downside is that I believe the new Iphones will come with greater protection to prevent jailbreaking if you're into that sort of thing (for legit reasons). But how long that will take to break is anyones guess.

Get one now, if O2 network is good for you.
There maybe offers when Orange pick up the Iphone, there may not.
A new iphone is bound to come out around middle of next year, and the year after that.
If its a Birthday present then I'd be more than happy if someone gave me an Iphone for my Birthday!

I guess its a tough one really as you could end up waiting for ever. Just wanted to see if there was anything in the immediate pipeline.

there is a 4th generation, probably to be released in June. It made the news a little while back as a worker died after losing a prototype...

Probably not worth waiting that long.
So do you guys think it is worth the 35.00 a month for the added functionality? Quote:

I've had this phone since its conception, it's excellent. I change my phones like I change my underpants, once every six months... this has kept me gripped.
I just wish the battery lasted that little longer as i'm always playing with it.
Just wait till it's out on Orange and see what the network offers.

If it helps - I'm on Simplicity. 20 Quid a month, 600 minutes (I never hit this limit), 1000 text, free internet.
I got my original 2G iPhone from the USA, each one since I've got via the forums here.
Currently running a 32gb 3GS - love it, wouldn't be without it.
I'm certain that Apple set the price for PAYG iPhones, so unless you want to be tied into a long contract I'd say grab one now from the forums....

How do you get that tarrif? Cant see that as an option anywhere on the O2 website. Also if you buy one outside of O2 how do you get connected? Quote:

I'm on "Online Simplicity 20"
Been on it years.
Current offer is 600 mins, 1200 texts and your choice of free bolt on. Obviously you would pick the unlimited internet bolt on.
Hope this helps

I think the thing that is stopping me diving in is that I dont need to use this as a phone or for texting so would only be for the apps and 3g stuff.
Just not sure it worth it for that............ Quote:
