Post mp3,players,suitable,audiobooks

I would like to buy my wife of 75 an MP3 for her to listen to audiobooks. Considering that a book can be quite long to be read in one go, I am having trouble with finding one that can be restarted where it was left off when switched back on. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can suggest one that can do this without too many difficulties?

Re: mp3,players,suitable,audiobooks

The iPod Touch is capable of doing this with any audiobook synced to the device via iTunes, I'm in the process of listening to the latest Karin Slaughter book using this method. I'd imagine the other iPod's in the range, excluding the Shuffle, can do the same.

These screenshots demonstrate how easily I can return to where I was listening at a later time

Post Re: mp3,players,suitable,audiobooks

Thanks for the visual display Sneek. What worries me with regards to Ipod, is that someone commenting on Amazon's shop stated that with itunes one was stuck with them even if he had his own stuff to transfer. I was also hoping to pay a bit less than £152 (cheapest i could find) and the Classic is even dearer, because of it's capacity of 120GB, which we'll never need. You don't happen to know if the Sansa View 8GB can restart where it was stopped do you? That would be an ideal situation because of it's spec, and know where to get it for £60. Thanks again.

Yes the Sansa View does support resume mode so long as the books have been downloaded from Audible.com which is the book store the Sansa has inbuilt support for.

Re: mp3,players,suitable,audiobooks

Thanks Sneek. I have only got into the modern tech stuff since I retired in 1999, so I'm still learning. I live in hampshire, but when i left Submarines in faslane in 1985, I worked in Glasgow for the Co. Ciao and thanks again.

A old boss of mine used to work in Submarines at Faslane too, I think he left around a similar time to you.

Re: mp3,players,suitable,audiobooks

Hi Sneek, After all I went and bought the Zen MX 8GB this afternoon. I hope I will be able to get my wife going on it when I've charged and sorted it out. Some author on the web called Stuart Andrews gives it a fair report. I"ll let you know how I get on. Btw I was Queens Harbour Masters Assistant in Faslane and I come from Malta originally, so the guy you know will most probably know. Take care and thanks.
