3G / 3GS Swap

A mate of mine wants a 16gb iPhone on Contract, but doesn't want to pay what o2 are asking (£185).

I have offered ( kindly ) to swap my 4month old 16GB 3G + £100 for the new 3GS phone. Therefore he only has to pay £85 for an iPhone and I get to upgrade at minimal cost!

I assume if we go ahead its a simple case of just swapping phones and sim cards?

I don't understand what you are saying here...you are giving him £100 and your phone ? Why does he have to pay £85 and what for ?

i'm confused too? I'm wondering if the mate buys the 3GS on contract but the OP buys the 3GS off him by swapping his 3G + £100 cash ... i think

Re: 3G / 3GS Swap

yes he not currently got an iphone. he signs up to new 18mth contract. pays 185 for 16gb 3gs. I then give him £100 and my 3g for the 3gs.

Sorry didnt realise I made it sound complicated.

long and short, if does happen, will it be a simple sim swap?

Re: 3G / 3GS Swap

One initial thought is that your friend will have lost the first 4 months of his 1 year warranty and you will get a new 1 year warranty on the 3GS.

Re: 3G / 3GS Swap

Sounds like an insanely good deal to me; I'd be feeling bad about stiffing a mate!

If he's totally cool with it, then fair enough. But I can't help but feel that after a week or so, he'll start wishing he hadn't given away his 3GS.

So you're screwing your mate, but doing it with his blessing?

Sweet.
