clearing the iphone 3G of personal data before i sell it

Do i just need to do a 'restore' in itunes to wipe off all my personal data? or is futher action required?

Settings> General> Reset> Erase all content and settings.

Job done.

A restore is 'better' though and will also remove all personal data at the same time.

Just be aware that this can take an hour - so make sure the battery is well charged. Works a treat though

Erase removes the data. Restore sets the phone back to it's out of the box state and also removes the data.

The facility on the iPhone to erase the data also resets it back to factory settings. It took 2 hours on my old 3G

The phone method works best and securely erases all data.
