Just downloaded it from the Australian Store and it works well, only over WiFi though.

Just downloaded from uk site, but can't get it to run. It seems to install ok, but when I try to create an account and tap the space to enter my name, it crashes back to springboard, anyone else got the same problem?

yes i've also got an account, but I get the same problem when I tap to insert my skype name it crashes back to springboard. Ive tried deleting it and re-installing but still got problem. I've got a 16gb 2g phone, unlocked / jailbroken and running 2.2.1 software. I've got a feeling that some other programme is running in conflict (possibly a keyboard app) although I've no idea which one.

Ok sorted now, I removed iblacklist, categories and a better tap to unlock, all from Cydia which resolved the conflict. Not sure which one was the culprit, but I suspect it was "a better tap to unlock"

It's an internet telephone system,you can use an ordinary headset / mic or buy a skype phone, calls are free worldwide to other skype users but are chargeable to other home and mobile phones , but at a supposedly lower rate. Got it working at first try but since it keeps asking me for credits altho I'm on wifi. Any ideas - I've done the cydia fix on my own phone and my wife's. Hers works with no request for credits and mine doesn't. Neither shows each other in the contacts with an icon with a tick in it to show we are online but my wife can call me but I can't do the same. Makes me think I've got somehting else downloaded by cydia that clashes (I don't have clippy or other downloads mentioned on iclarified). Any ideas?

I've created an account, am I supposed to get a telephone no or does it use my excisting no? Can't get my head round this at all.

You can buy a telephone if you want, but if you have a headphone and microphone you can use that ok
Skype will give you a separate number , and they will give your first call free for you to test it out. If you go to the skype home page and have a browse through the sections, it will give you a run down on everything

If you have a jailbroken Iphone then update your mobile substrate via cydia and all is good - I had loads of crashes until I did this and now it works perfectly. In fact the quality is better than via then computer (IMO)

My sister has Skype on her iPhone, I've got it on mine and both of us have wi-fi at our separate houses. When I go to ring her, I can only ring her mobile which requires credits. Can I not just ring her Skype user name if you get me?

Sorry if a dumb question, I'm new to Skype and just expected anyone with Skype on their iPhone could ring another person with Skype on their iPhone for free in a wi-fi area.

Only if you want to ring landlines/mobiles (you're not being a tool tho!).

I have used it to make 7 international skype calls and 3 international skype out calls from the US to the Netherlands. So far I'm pretty happy. Voice clarity was excellent and none of the phone users even knew I was on skype untll I told them.

If you have a solid wifi connection and a decent broadband connection 3MBPS> I don't see any problems. Make sure you turn the iPhone off and back on after installing new programs though. This seems to be the trick.

Sometimes the signal stuttered upon downloading certian things with my laptop, but not unlike using skype with my mac.

If you install voipover3g from cydia, then this allows you to use skype over 3g and edge!
