Re: Your Top 3 Apps Right Now

Tube Map is good, easy to use, accurate and free! London Tube costs 59p but is worth it because you also get integration with googlemaps to find out where the stations are.

It's on sale for March and is well worth it. Just get the full licence and enjoy

BBC iPlayer (+ Slingplayer and Netflix) in that order

Another vote for BBC iPlayer.

Not only does it work over 3G with perfectly acceptable audio quality ...

but the Radio shows (on demand) and stations (live) are a gem, esp for music.

Even the Official Top 40 Chart show with Reggie is available for 7 days, and you can fast forward to the top 10 etc. to update your ears with the latest hits without having to make any purchases.

As this thread a few yrs old , more apps are available and would be interested in hearing your 'current' top 3 apps

How to pick 3 from 150+? Okay, they vary from week to week... but right now:

Sky Sports TV: Not a Sky fan so don't have it any more at home, but I miss the sport. This costs £9.99 per month for all the sports channels. How good is that? Hoping that F1 will be included (but probably asking for too much)

Next Buses: I hate buses but daft not to use them in the city and this App is outstanding with a mixture of live and timetabled arrivals. It's also got me out of a fix on a couple of occasions when travelling away from home. It's not perfect and it's only as good as the feeds it uses, plus there a few areas where coverage is sketchy, but it works 99/100 for me. Well worth 69p.

Dropbox: Unbelievably useful, not just to share stuff with Mrs W but also things like MS Word docs. Just copied my list of Blu-rays from my PC to stop me buying duplicates (my memory's not as good as it used to be).

Yes, I did have a look at this but the Sky Sports TV App is different to Sky Go App and I'm thinking that it won't be included on the PAYG version unless Sky can see that they'll get a return in additional take-up by including it. We'll know soon enough, but it's still a cracking App either way...

The theory is that if you get the Sky Sports channels you will get the new channel. As you are paying for the sports channels i cant see why it would be any different.

Your logic is perfectly sound but I'll believe it when it appears on an iPhone near me on 9th March!

Cheers

Siddhesh: Hello, you're chatting with Siddhesh, a Sky advisor, may I take your name please?
You: Good morning Siddhesh, I'm Williamus
Siddhesh: Good morning Williamus.
Siddhesh: What brings you to our web site today?
You: I don't have Sky at home but I do have Sky Sports TV on my iPhone and pay the monthly £9.99 subscription via iTunes. Question - will F1 be included in my Sky Sports TV App from 9th March?
Siddhesh: I am sorry to inform you that unfortunately F1 is only available for customers have Sky TV with Sky Sports and HD pck.
You: Okay, but that's a big disappointment. Are there any plans to make it available via an iTunes App?

No response - chat terminated. At least we know...

This is Sky we're talking about.....they've just paid out a huge amount of money to secure one of the biggest sports in the world. They're not going to give it away in a package that already sells. They'll keep it to draw more long term customers to their main subscription services. Any hopes or thoughts of it being included in a £9.99 mobile app are only dreams.

Yup... that's what I thought. Seeing as others thought it might be included, it seemed like a good idea to hear it from them. I still believe the £9.99 Sky Sports TV is excellent value (with or without F1)

Instapaper - The best app that I use, though it's probably the simplest. I have instapaper bookmarks on all devices and browsers I use now.

Drop7 - Probably my most played game ever. That includes the hundreds of hours I've put into games like MW2 and Battlefield 3.

SportsTracker - for tracking my runs and bike rides

Sorry - had to add a 4th - Tweetbot

Drop7 is superb. Need to return to it.

Tweetdeck - Just can't find another Twitter app that compares and I tend to spend my social media life on it.

Flick Football (Tottenham edition) - Love this, hitting freekicks into the goal. Great timewaster.

Inception - Love the augmented sound and the effects of using this when wondering around or even sleeping. If anyone has any other similar apps to recommend, please do.

I meant Flick Kick Football (although I guess you knew that).

Only really play time attack. 98 currently (though sure I got over 100 on the previous version of it).

I'd like to include duke nukem in my fave game app list but since the recent update you can't fire! A pacifist update possibly. So in absence of that I'm enjoying old school thrills in the shape of rtype & wings of glory.
