Mobile Banking App

In the 'boring but useful' category: RBS and Natwest have just released their Mobile Banking App.

Just downloading it now so can't say what it's like yet but it looks very promising...

Oh, and it's free!

Re: Mobile Banking App

Just got it - seems to hang though - no secure connection etc etc.

Still, should be useful when it works

I had the same problem, no secure connection, but then again I'm not suprised as I'm stuck in a conference room in Madrid at the moment.

Re: Mobile Banking App

Can't get it to work.

Got to the point where it send a text for authentication, but can't get to the point to enter it.

Now going back into it just results in a long time waiting to connect and more often than not "Network not available".

Considering Natwest advertised the app in the national newspapers, it don't look good if it its a bit unreliable.

Re: Mobile Banking App

I got it working and have followed the very long winded registration process. Now apparently I've got to wait upto 48 hours whilst my bank confirms my account details before I can actually do anything.

The whole thing feels horrifically slow - feels like an embedded web page, just clicking an OK button initiates a data transaction and takes seconds to respond.

Don't think I really understand why I can't just use my online banking credentials to access this service.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Would rather login via Safari and do it that way, at least I can see more information.

I already get the texts every friday telling me my balance, which is a lot quicker than trying to login with this app to be told the same thing.

Re: Mobile Banking App

I think this app probably creates a 'tunnel' or a cut down VPN, in order to keep all details safe..... thats probably why its slow....

Just downloading it now. Saw this thread and went "oooh, look at this" to the GF. At exactly the same time, she just pointed out the App advert on the TV

Quick? Are we talking about the same app? Any app that needs to make a net connection and for you to wait when you press a close button cannot be classed quick.

Has anyone else had problems receiving the activation code ?

I installed the app on Friday, entered my number, and it said it would text it to me. Nothing came through, so exited and tried again. Once again, nothing. Tried periodically on Saturday and Sunday, but still get no text.

I'm receiving texts OK from friends, so not sure what's going on !

Ian.

I don't know about you, but its SUPER quick for me!
Let me try it now.

1. Launching Natwest
2. 4 seconds to passcode screen.
3. 1 second to log in.
4. 2 seconds to check balance
5. 1 second to close application.

Are we using the same app, as its super quick for me and stable.

Please note, the above test was done on wifi, and iphone 3.1.2 jailbroken firmware.

Did everyone else have their details confirmed within 48 hrs? I got the activation text ok, then it said the card details had to be confirmed with the bank and I'd get a text within 48 hrs. That was 6 days ago. It just says the card details are being verified if I try to logon. Not impressed so far.

I didn't get a message but it started working after a couple of days - just like has already been mentioned.

To be honest its quick but pretty useless - it should be called Mobile Balance - that about all it does. The mini-statements don't give you any information other than amounts.

No way to actually manage you account i.e transfer money / view or make payments.

If you want to get a quick balance then it ok - anything else then forget it.

Aye, until they add more details to the mini-balance, it's pretty useless apart from checking your balance. Have to say it makes topups a breeze though.
