Ngmoco have just released there a new virtual pet sim Touch Pets - Dogs into the Apps store. It is another new game experimenting with the free to download, pay if you want to play lots business model.

It also uses the Plus+ network to allow you to play and meet up with your friend's dogs.

The way the game works is that your dog needs food and you get a certain amount free each day, if you want to play more, then you need to spend your hard earnt cash to buy virtual food for your virtual dog

From what I've played of the game (I'm currently away and have very limited internet connect on my iPhone) it suprisingly fun and there seems to be quite a deep RPG element to building up your dogs stats.
