Tom Tom for iPhone.

I've been using TT for a while now, months on iPhone and years on other devices. I'm prepared to put up with the well documented issues until they manage to sort them out (hopefully) in future releases.
However something happened today which makes me wonder ...
I went out from work twice today - the first journey was short and TT performed without a problem. The second journey was different though, TT couldn't get a fix (neither could maps or Navigon) for a full 10 minutes. I noticed that the phone was hot and decided to fully reboot it. After that it worked flawlessly for the rest of the 2 hour journey. Is the chip in the phone susceptible to this kind of problem and do other apps suffer this kind of degraded performance?
