Re: Sky Plus App?

When you sign up to Sky you get assigned a username and password so you can log onto 'My Sky'. It's on the paperwork you get when your account is created.

If you can't find the details, give Sky CS a call and they will be able to reset the details for you.

Re: Sky Plus App?

Think you can do it on your Sky box aswell.

Just go to Sky Active - Sky Products - Remote Asisstance.

Something like that.

Re: Sky Plus App?

Go to the sky website, and it will tell you how to get it all sorted.
I did it yesterday, took about 10 mins.

Re: Sky Plus App?

After using this for a few days, it lives up to the adage "you get what you pay for".
It's great being able to remote record, but it is so basic. It's slow, gives no way to re-order channels, don't think the search is very good, can't tweak the screen to show the full name of the channel (!?), can't filter by HD, etc, etc.
Would gladly pay the 59p or whatever if it meant Sky would give it a bit of a polish.

I use Tioti TV+ - much better than TV Plus or Sky's own app.

Re: Sky Plus App?

I had the same problem. Go to sky's website and set up a free account to allow remote recording. After this i had to upgrade the account(this was also free), bit long winded but it all works now.

Re: Sky Plus App?

This is breaking me now.

Is there a delay within the setup system.i.e you have to wait 24 hrs for remote record to activate?

I've put my mobile into my sky account online. with the +44 prefix.
Put the same +44 number onto the remote record on my sky+ box and the pop up comes up saying i'm ready to go.

But no joy at all.

On the phone it says: Account not set up for remote record.
On the website tv guide i try remote record on there and it says: To use Remote Record you must have Sky+ or Sky+HD and have activated Remote Record.

This is starting to annoy me now.

EDIT: Right stuff it i'm not bothering with this app. Wasted far to long tring to set this up.

I think i had to do something online to get mine to work. But i remember it being a PITA, worth it in the long run. Just thinking of the number of times i've been stuck in traffic and about to miss the start of football or something. Its great.

You need the landline when first setting it up.
After that you don't need the line to send record requests as they are done "over the air"

This may help.

You will also need the phone line to register for remote record, but not for it to work from there on. As suggested, borrow a mates phone for this purpose - It is common for independent installers to do this for their customers in a similar situation, so you are doing nothing different.

Just don't tell Sky what you are up to!
also:

Quote:
Just note down the Box Serial number and Card number and get a mate in the UK to pair the card and box by phoning sky.

I have done this with a self install and no phone line connected to my box.

Re: Sky Plus App?

ok i had loads of bother to could no get it to work as it kept saying sky recored not active so 3 diffrent phone calls later got a direct line to sky remote customer service and within 2 mins she set it up and got it working online and on my iphone top qualtiy service.

it turned out i had a guest account as well as a master and the sky was registering my phone to the guest account but the guest account was not linked to my master account. so she put a dummy number into the guest account and i reentered my phone number and it registered it to the master tried it and worked.

here is the number if you want help

08442 411 531 this will give you a direct line to sky remote help service.

Re: Sky Plus App?

Hi, had this working a couple of weeks ago and wanted to use it again over the weekend but it does not work now - All I get is a pop up that says "Error" and the option to press OK - nothing else. I decided to re-do the activation so I went into my Sky HD box and re-entered my mobile in the remote Record section and received confirmation, but I still get the error.

Could someone please confirm that this works with OS3.0 or whatever we are up to now.

Any other thoughts please?

Andy.

Just checked there and mine does the same.
And it was working fine the last time i checked.
Think i recieved an update during that time too so it may have bricked the app on 3.0.

Happening to me aswell, used to work perfectly but now all I get is "error". It was a handy app to have, might look into upgrading to Tioti TV+.
