Sky on iPhone

Got a mate who works at o2 and he's said that from Monday Sky is going to be available on the iphone. Free for 3 months then it goes up to £6 month.

Ive asked him for more info, but was wondering if anyone here has heard anything more.

Cheers
Will

Re: Sky on iPhone

The Sky+ app has been out for a long time, it sounds like that's not what the OP is talking about?

That has been available for many many months and is only an app to launch the remote record.
I think wbabbington is refering to some sort of actual viewer much like the Xbox360 failed thing is (mind you its not much of a suprise that failed as microsoft had a hand in it).

Would be interesting to see if there is any truth in a sky viewer for the iphone.

Re: Sky on iPhone

Yeah this is a seperate thing not an app.

Got my mate to forward to me what landed in his 'in tray' this morning.

Quote:
Watch live Sky TV through your iPhone free for the first 3 months - Only for O2 customers

The new Sky Mobile TV app will be available from the Apple App store on Monday 9 November and allows iPhone customers to stream live Sky TV over a Wi-Fi connection.

The 8 available channels on the Sky Mobile TV app include Sky News, Sky Sports 1, 2 & 3 and ESPN including all Premiership matches screened live.

This fantastic app is free to download and £6 per month thereafter. However we’ve got a special launch offer - O2 iPhone customers get the first 3 months for free!

What do customers need to do?
This offer is exclusive to O2 iPhone customers - all they need to do is text SKY to 2020 to get a promotional code (one code per O2 iPhone).

After downloading the app, customers will need to input their credit/debit card details (great opportunity to mention O2 Money) and their unique O2 promotional code to start enjoying 3 months free usage of the app.

During the 3 months free period, we’ll send our customers texts to remind them that they’ll be paying £6 per month for the app after the 3 months is over. If they’d like to unsubscribe from Sky Mobile TV they can visit www.sky.com/mobiletv/myaccount to do so.

How are O2 telling customers about this offer?
We believe that this will be the ‘must have’ app for Christmas. O2 iPhone customers will see the promotion when they download the app.

We’ll be sending a text to all O2 opted-in iPhone customers to let them know. Plus, this great offer will be supported by point of sale in store and in windows from 10 November.

Don’t forget, the Sky Mobile TV App only works over a Wi-Fi connection. Remember to talk to customers about Unlimited Wi-Fi that they receive from The Cloud and BT Openzone included in their iPhone tariff as well as how connect to their home Wi-Fi network.

More information on this exclusive offer is available at O2 - Error 404. Please note - this link will be live around midday on Monday 9 November.

Re: Sky on iPhone

Seems like another "Wow, thats an incredible feature!!!" when in actual fact, its virtually useless.

If I'm at home, I'll use the telly to watch sky, if I'm not at home, I'll need to find a free hotspot with a good connection and data rate which, as we know, are virtually in every town, and city....right?

Re: Sky on iPhone

I don't have multi-room Sky so a free 3 months trial will do me fine for when the missus really won't let me watch football

Re: Sky on iPhone

Seems pretty great this in fairness. I assume 3G unrestrictor will work on it?

Definitely worth it for watching the live football when out and about.

Re: Sky on iPhone

£6 a month, limited channels think I may stick with my slingbox mobile that I already watch on 3G.
Then again I may splash out for the 3 month trial just for curiosity sake!

Do you guys with slingboxes have jailbroken iphones? Or is there now a crafty way to get around the wifi limitation?

Is 3g unrestrictor available on a non-customized phone?

Re: Sky on iPhone

Well i think its pretty decent for the 3 months anyway, if you, like me don't get the sports channels on regular sky. I should now at least be able to watch some live prem games without resorting to a blurry mess on the laptop, or going to the pub.

Slingbox were meant to be bringing it to 3G, not sure if they have yet. 3G Unrestrictor is only available if you JB
