Airvideo

Discovered airvideoast last night and can now stream any video file off my pc to the iPhone over 3g or wifi I am surprised it isn't being talked about on here as it works well and makes the video side of things so much more usefull.

Re: Airvideo

Just had a look at this, and it works very well over WiFi. not tried on 3G as i can't get a 3G signal at home.

Not sure the £1.79 paid for app is worth it over the free one tbh. Unless i'm missing something the only difference is the amount of folders shown.

Re: Airvideo

Cheers for this lads. What a superb app, as above I've only tried this on wi-fi. If it works on 3G as well as this I'd be amazed. Superb app from first impressions

Re: Airvideo

Works fine on 3g for me not sure what the difference is between free and paid but it's only 1.80 Gbp

Pity it doesn't do music as well How this is not one of top apps escapes me?

Re: Airvideo

This is superb and is well worth the 1.79 it costs.

The quality of the conversions are crystal clear and best of all the sound doesn't go out of sync. I also like the way it retains your own folder structure so if you keep tv shows (for example) grouped by season then they will all be under your hierarchy instead of lumped into a huge list of titles. Each video in the list also has a small thumbnail along with the duration and size. The live conversion is also smooth after a few seconds of buffering and I haven't noticed any re-buffering so far (over wifi).

I love it.

Re: Airvideo

My only possible criticism so far is it doesn't support DVD rips (TS).

Otherwise, very impressive

What's the best and quickest way to get your DVDs into a playable format on this app? Also where are the conversions stored?

Re: Airvideo

There are numerous software applications around to convert a DVD to AVI, DIVX, XVID, MOV or whatever you wish. I use Handbrake personally as it's free and works well.

Re: Airvideo

The obvious downside to this app is that your PC needs to be running as this performs the conversion. If you are happy to always have your PC on then it does seem like a great app. If they had a solution for NAS users, then it would be perfect but until then I'll stick to converting to MP4 to access movies remotely.

Re: Airvideo

This is fantastic - good spot! I always have my Mac Mini media server running and this is perfect. It even allows me to view my eyeTV recordings without all the stop/start that the official eyeTV app causes. I also do not have to convert to ipod first in eyeTV - this is a major plus!

Re: Airvideo

So, if you can use this over 3G does that mean you don't have to be in proximity to your Media Server/ PC?

ie. Would be great if you could stream video from your PC to wherever you might be.

Re: Airvideo

Amazing app, I can stream mkv, avi, .ts, .mts, .m2ts, you name it!

Also supports seeking (i.e. rewinding/fast forwarding to any point in the video)

Also allows resuming a video from the last position, even after quitting the app

And the support team emailed me within minutes when I had a query.

Absolutely astounded this ain't the number 1 app in the App Store. An absolute bargain at £1.79!!
