The Trainline free train times app

I've just been on The Trainline website and there was and advert for their new free iPhone app. So I've downloaded it directly to my phone as it's not a big app. Intitial impressions are pretty good but I can't compare it to some of the pay apps like the National Rail one as I don't have that one (also I've only had the app for 30 mins!)

Worth a look if you travel on the trains a lot and because it's free, you have nothing to lose

Re: The Trainline free train times app

I tried this app on Monday. It told me there were no trains a week later between Manchester and London. Methinks that isn't right.

Re: The Trainline free train times app

Have tried this and also have the National Rail one... for finding trains both have worked as well as each other for me.. a couple of trips from Warrington to Reading & Birmingham. Both do seem to have occasional issues getting the right route.

If you just want the routing & timetable functionality then the Trainline is the way to go as it saves you £5....

Only advantage of national rail is that you can get live timetable information.

Neither though allow you to buy tickets.. maybe the introduction of in app purchaseswill bring this along.
