National Rail and Tube Deluxe are both great apps, but at £4.99, Rail isn't cheap. Tubes is only 59p

Tubes run constantly so you don't need to worry about those too much.

National Rail is a very good app and worth it IMO.

I guess it'll just be quicker and easier.. just like you can easily go to facebook on safari but everyone seems to use the app instead.

Re: Whats the best train times and journey route app?

It is very easy to use and very fast. I know that if I quickly want information for the next train (and lets face it, sometimes you rush in to a station hoping to jump on a train), I just want to find it....and as fast and easily as possible, something you can't always do on a website.

It also has the advantage of having a "Find next train home" button, which uses the location services in the phone to locate the nearest station to you and gives you the best route home, you want need it very often, but it a really good feature to have.

Thanks guys think I will download it when I get home. Even if I only use it a few times a year at least it will save me getting lost :D

I did that for ages mate because on the principle that I wasn't paying a fiver. But it just wasn't practical - screen too small to navigate and input.

I begrudgingly paid the fiver....... and wish I had done so at the beginning. If your a regular traveler then it's well worth it. It's a great specced and functional app. Buy it!

Re: Whats the best train times and journey route app?

I probably only get a train 1-2 times a month if that, and still feel the National Rail app is one of the most valuable apps on my iPhone. Definitely worth the £4.99, as it's saved me many hours waiting around for trains. What does £5 really get you these days anyway?

Re: Whats the best train times and journey route app?

Must admit i was put off by the £5 price tag, seems expensive for something you can do for free elsewhere and for when the greater proportion of Apps as much less.

Would be useful to me as i get trains reasonably often, can you buy tickets on it or only see times?

Re: Whats the best train times and journey route app?

Just see times.

You can't see fares either, which I would like to be implemented in a future update. My only other annoyance is that only some stations seem to support the platform status, so you know where you're train will be.

Seems like a bit of a gap in the functionality... may still wait.. is there any news on any upcoming updates?

Re: Whats the best train times and journey route app?

It's very good at locating nearest stations and letting you select from a list of stations in your history. Also in my experience the platform numbers come onto the app before they do on the departure boards in the station, meaning you can find a train and take a seat well before the rush
