Sennheiser MM50 iP Headphones

Hi all,

Just wondering - can someone recommend a place to get these (at around £35?). I see quite a few people selling them (esp. amazon marketplace at cheaper than that) - but also quite a lot of comments to watch out for fakes.

So - recommendations gratefully accepted

Just bought some from Play.com, this was the cheapest I could find and they come from play so are original...

just bought a set from amazon for £30. Will let you know when they arrive if they're fake or not. Good reviews from the seller. Will send them back if they're knock offs.

Re: Sennheiser MM50 iP Headphones

Mine arrived this morning, not bad seeing as I ordered them on Wednesday evening.
Can confirm they're original Sennheiser's. Original packaging and almost identical to my CX300 bought from play.com

There are some on there now for £20 inc, claiming to be new/sealed, etc.

I've just had some faulty ones off eBay - they were sealed, slightly tatty box but looked genuine (and I've had a pair before) but there was either a click or an audio drop out whenever you applied any pressure to the earbuds, which could be caused even by something as subtle as smiling while they were in!

So, don't want to get burned again but, having paid full whack for some about 5 months ago and have them die also due to a weak connection, I'm loathe to pay full price again...

Any thoughts? Who did you buy from, Zain?

Re: Sennheiser MM50 iP Headphones

It's almost impossible to tell sometimes, until you put them in your ears and have the 2 pairs side by side. Fake ones can be picked up from Chinese sites for around £8 a set.

Avoid eBay, Amazon Re-Sellers and only stick to reputable sites if you want genuine ones.

Bought mine from this seller Merchandise Express @ Amazon.co.uk:
They offer 14 day no quibble for what ever reason money back guarantee.
But seems like they're out of stock.

My advice is check the feedback and contact the seller first.

Failing that and if you can cope without the mic, these are an absolute bargain Play.com (UK) : Goldring GX200 Hi-Fi Stereo Earphones (Blue) : Electronics - Free Delivery

Re: Sennheiser MM50 iP Headphones

To revisit this thread .. I purchased my set from play.com in the end - didn't want the hassle of possible fakes.

I'm not overly impressed with the headphones. In my right ear there is an audible "whistle" type sound when I'm walking about - like the bud isn't completely sealing against my ear. I've tried all three of the earbud sizes supplied and it happens on each one. I've an old pair of creative labs headphones which have the same bud-type, and used them recently and don't get that problem (although they don't have the microphone bit which is why i wanted these).

Also - when I'm on the train (i.e. not walking) I think the performance of the headphones is just average. Doesn't seem to be a marked different between the Senns and my old Creative ones - and the Senns are more than twice the price.

Be interested in others feedback on them - am I the only one disappointed with the Senns?

Re: Sennheiser MM50 iP Headphones

I got mine off Ebay for £14.95 and they were fully boxed and seem genuine but I think that ALL the Sennheiser MM50 iP Headphones are made in China anyway! And thats where the Big companies order from, see link:

Free Shipping 50pcs/lot MM50 MM 50 iP Earphone Headphone for MP3/MP4–Madeinchina

Many companies and people buy from China direct and sell them on ebay but you have to order +50

Same here, I have a pair of genuine CX300's and the difference in sound quality was quite apparent.

I've just been out to the Apple store in Liverpool to have my 16Gb 3G swapped out due to battery problems, and ended up getting a pair of Monster Beats In-Ear headphones. Sound is really good so far, Guy in the store said if i am not happy and can return them no questions asked.

Hey mate, my friend has an iPhone 3G whose battery drains out within half a day. How does it prove it to Apple that it is defective?

Not actually Amazon, but "MrTronics". As others have warned, be wary of fakes when purchasing through the marketplace...

Just make an appointment with a Mac Genius, let them know that it is draining quickly and they will change it (as long as its in Warranty)

Re: Sennheiser MM50 iP Headphones

Anyone having problems getting the button to work on these? Sometime it works flawlessly and I can skip and pause songs to my heart's content. Other times it won't work for days. Anyone know a way to make it always work? There must be some trick to it!

Cheers

Re: Sennheiser MM50 iP Headphones

Just wondering if these earphones will work with any phone with a 3.5mm audio jack?

Sennheiser do a pair for Nokia phones but both they and the IP versions both use a 4-pole 3.5mm jack - could the channels be differently wired?

Personally I wouldn't get those headphones! I'd go for the CX300 II's because they don't have the annoying controls and they're alot cheaper but with very similair spec!
