Any recommendations for a car holder/charger?

Hello - I have an iphone that i use with a wireless bluetooth thing that clips to my visor which works flawlessly. Ihave just removed the vast majority of one of those Nokia CARK91 carkits from my car but left the holder mount attached to the dashboard and the power distribution unit behind the glovebox. I'm too scared to remove any more in case it affects the ignition circuits or the radio.
Obviously I want an iphone holder that would screw into the mount already there, but is it possible to get a cable that'll plug into the power unit and then into a holder, thus charging the iphone as it's held.

And whilst I'm drawing up this list, I'd also like a pony, my own terminator and peace in the middle east.

Re: Any recommendations for a car holder/charger?

Just found this

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/15436.htm

Which would seem to fit the bill. The plug for the 12V supply form the cigarette lighter is huge. I assume that this is because it has a transformer in it. Would it be possible to attach the end of this cable to the power output of the junction box if I cut the cable and added an end that fit. Or is there more to it than that?

Not a recommendation, but I am currently using the dock and USB cable that came with an iPhone AV cable kit and a ciggy lighter-to-USB power adapter, with line out from the back of the dock connected to the back of the head unit. I've cobbled together a holder that goes in the passenger side cup holder. Works pretty well, although I don't know how it would interact with bluetooth since I don't have a bluetooth adapter. Bits from ebay.

Thanks - but it's the whole massive adaptor sticking out of the cigarette lighter socket look that I'm trying to avoid. I emailed the site selling the holders asking if it was possible to replace the end of a charging cable for one that would fit in a nokia power unit and they said I could end up setting my car on fire.
I regard that as a downside.

Re: Any recommendations for a car holder/charger?

I fitted a device that interfaces my iPhone with my car stereo, it's great - sound quality is fantastic, it charges the iPhone, and ccntrolling it from the stereo is so handy.

To hold it in the car I use a Belkin TuneDok. It doesn't seem to hold the iPhone *incredibly* securely, but since I don't drive like a rally driver and have no intention of driving into anything, it's not a problem.

The Tunedok's ideal for my car (a Honda Civic) as it has cup holders in the centre console; YMMV.

Care to share the name of the device?

It's a Connects2 adapter. They're usually mega expensive, but I got lucky on eBay.
