Speaker Dock/Alarm clock for 3GS - not in flight mode???

Afternoon fellas, had my 3gs for 3 days now and it is by far the best and most intuitive phone I have ever had. I’m sooo glad I chose this of the HTC Hero or HD2 and it could quite possibly be the most intuitive gadget I’ve ever had!

I’m after an alarm clock/speaker dock for my bedroom though and was wondering if any of you guys have any recommendations?

Do any of them work with the phone not in flight mode as i've heard this is an issue?

I’ve had a brief look at these and am leaning towards to JBL, any advise peeps?

JBL ONTIME-200iD
Sony ICF-C1IPMK2
Klipsch iGroove SXT MFI
Intempo Digital RDI

Save your money a bit and get this :

Mavizen Black iZ-168SB Dual Alarm Clock Radio iPod Speaker £19.99 - - Dect Cordless Phones

i bought mine from Play.com when they stocked them and it is well worth the money.
The docks ask to go into airplane mode to stop the annoying buzz every so often when the phone is looking for signal, no other reason. Sometimes i turn it on, other times i dont.
Mine is in the kitchen and is great and even charge my 3G iphone.

Brilliant.

I have just ordered the Sony dock, as I could get it for free via the Sony Amex card reward scheme. I'm expecting it shortly and I'll get back to you and let you know what I think of it.

Do all such docks charge when the phone is on them? I tend to only charge mine when the battery is dead so would not want it charging every night.
Cheers

How spooky! I've just tested a few docks in the local apple store and I really rated this Sony.

It wasn't as loud as the Intempo but the sound/music was definitely better quality. The Sony is also matt black as opposed to being gloss, so much less of a finger print magnet!

They didn't have the Klipisch but that's only a dock and as its for my bedroom I think I'll go with the Sony.

Will be interested to hear what you think.

Re: Speaker Dock/Alarm clock for 3GS - not in flight mode???

Great minds etc etc. The Sony is exactly what I want in a dock, not too big, looks good and iPhone compatible. As I'm still in my iPhone honeymoon period and using it all the time which means regular re charging. With this dock I can leave it charge over night and have a full battery for the next day. Perfect.

Hi Steve - i have the JBL 200 (no clock) and was really suprised at how good the sound was from it. The ontime has a different footprint so have no clue how alike it would sound, but it looks as if the shape is somewhere between the 200 and the 400 JBL models which at a guess may make it more bassy than mine. This would not be a bad thing!!

Re: Speaker Dock/Alarm clock for 3GS - not in flight mode???

I have the Sony dock and find it great for the money, it looks good, sounds good (not fantastic but good) and charges my 3GS with the case on.

The only downside of it for me is the clock display is very bright, you can dim it but even on the lowest setting its still very bright.

Overall for £50 ish I can't complain and would recommend it.

Rich.

Re: Speaker Dock/Alarm clock for 3GS - not in flight mode???

Cheers for your help guys.

Think i'm going to go with the Sony, not only is the price good it is also the perfect size for a clock radio and i don't need it to boom!

Had a play with the zepplin at the weekend too, it is very nice but when i got home i plugged the phone into my amp/speakers and it blew the B&W away.

Very nice but it is style over substance!

Anyways, thanks to all for the advice

Well my Sony dock turned up after nearly 3 weeks, and first impressions were very good. Dropped my iPhone in and set the alarm for the next morning, only the alarm didn't sound. When I woke up the display was showing 12:00 as if it had reset itself. Took the iPhone out then reset the time on the dock, dropped the iPhone back in and the display cut out only to re appear a few seconds later showing 12:00. Grrrr. Tried it a few times and each time the same, so must have a dud. I don't think I have ever had a problem with any electrical item I have bought in recent years, and was even more surprised by a product from Sony. I'll try the customer support line tomorrow and see what they say.

Looking for something similar myself. My girlfriend has bought me one of these, I haven't actually received it yet but it looks bloody ugly IMO so I'm going to change it (shhhh, she's sat next to me).

I've been reading a few reviews of various clocks but I'm worried that they'll all be too bright for my liking! I think I'm going to opt for the JBL dock (no clock radio) and use one of the few clock radio apps such as Night Stand. I can't stand bright LEDs in my bedroom!
