Restore your clear case with toothpaste!

Hi all,

I've tried at least half a dozen cases for my iPhone, but I keep going back to the griffin reveal, for me it's almost perfect, it offers scratch protection, a little drop protection and is lightweight and slim with a nice in the hand feel.

The rubberised sides also help stop the phone sliding out of my pocket when sitting in my car etc.

The only problem I have with this, and similar cases is that although the transparent back shows off the iPhone rear casing which looks great when new, it gets scratched quite easily, I have tried adding a screen protector to the case to help, but this made it uncomfortable to hold and looked a bit naff!

I then remembered that people have used toothpaste to clean their white MacBooks so I thought I'd give a go, I first tried Aquafresh multi-action whitening, this worked pretty well, it removed some of the scratches and swirl marks, in fact I was surprised how warm it became as I was rubbing it in with my hand!

I then remembered that I had some Arm and Hammer bicarbonate toothpaste so tried that, it felt more abrasive and got even warmer as I rubbed it in, after rinsing and drying though I found that it had given the case a slight satin/opaque finish, not really what I wanted.

I then had another try with the Aquafresh and that actually restored some of the transparency!

So to all those griffin reveal owners out there, why not try restoring it with toothpaste, bear in mind though that some toothpastes are more abrasive than others, so it might be worth sticking with the Aquafresh

Aquafresh

I'd be interested to hear how others get on with this!

Having had a Griffin Reveal for only a few days and finding that the back marked very easily I may give this a go.

Will report back if successful........

Re: Restore your clear case with toothpaste!

Maybe take some before and after pictures? I had already restored mine before I thought about taking photos!

I'm amazed at how well it worked, just remove the phone ( ) then squirt some toothpaste on and rub it, I used the palm of my hand and rubbed it in for a couple of minutes, you'll notice it feeling warm.

Rinse and dry and you'll see the improvement!

(I actually washed it with some handwash to get rid of the strong minty smell)

It may be worth getting the same toothpaste as I used as other types might cause the slight opaque look I got when I used the Arm and Hammer.

I love these DIY home remedies!
