Orange iPhone 5 pre-order

Hi

Has anyone else ordered an iPhone 5 on Orange over the phone this morning?

I ordered mine today at 8am as a new customer and was told I will receive the iPhone within 30 days of it being released!

Has anyone else been told this?

The person I ordered it with at 8am told me I was one of the first through today.

So I am worried that I won't get it next Friday - should I be worried?

Regards

Paul

Orange so far seem very unorganised. This is something I am quite surprised about, considering they had the advantage of 4G you would have thought they would want to hit the ground running. I have no idea when I am getting my nano SIM but right now it is looking like well after launch.

You have the advantage of getting it free and automatically with your phone.

It really should not be within 30 days. I have no idea who told you that, but he should be sacked on grounds of pure incompetence. You will have it (if you ordered at 8am) on the 21st, and if not a few days later at most. Unless Orange have no stock, in which case it will be at most 2-3 weeks.

Ive ordered from the orange web site this morning and it eventually went through and I got some notice to say it will be available from next friday - this evening I received a text saying that it was an error and it would be available as soon as possible.

If I dont see it next friday/sat I'll complain...

I was told the same, but the guy I spoke to said they'd been told to say this to, and I quote "Cover our behinds in case we don't receive the stock in the numbers they need.

I ordered in store and the lady spoke to someone on the phone who stated apple had refused to let orange know exact numbers of stock going out next week and therefore they weren't ensuring they could provide one on launch day but apparently apple have given assurances that if orange take only a certain amount of preorders set by apple they will fulfill within thirty days. Seems weird and very unorganised and as one of the other posters mentioned with EE coming you'd think It would be more clear.

I ordered a 32gb this morning over the phone on an 18 month contract and was told delivery would be within 30 days but I think they are just covering themselves.
Strangely though I helped a friend order a 16gb this evening via the orange website and she received a text saying delivery would be on the 18/9 between 9 and 5.30! I thought the 21st is when they went on sale!?

Orange seem the most unorganised but worse is that their staff seem to feel it is acceptable to guess dates. Quite amusing really.

When ringing about Nano SIMS I go a few days to next week to a few weeks to a month. Lol.

Lady in the shop said to me all new iPhones will be provided with nano sim so surely they can assure everyone that supply will be good for existing customers who need one. It is a bit of a joke to be honest, the main reason I'm with orange is become of the cinema ticket promo but I did think about leaving yesterday. Having said that, I've never been treated worse as a customer than by o2 when I wanted to upgrade to the iPhone four and that did make me leave.

Well I have had a text from Orange this morning saying -

Hi from Orange. Thanks for ordering your shiny new phone. We'll be in touch to let you know when it's on the way

So I suppose that is progress!

I pre-ordered mine through the website yesterday around 4pm. I received an email shortly after saying that my order was confirmed and ready to go.

I'm a new Orange customer so don't know how much they keep you up-to-date with regards to orders. When I got the email saying that my order was confirmed and ready to go, does that mean that I've passed the credit check and all that? When I took out my contract with Vodafone last year I received several emails keeping me up-to-date with the progress of my order and I also received an email saying that I had passed the credit check and welcome to Vodafone.

I've not had anything like that from Orange just yet, although I wasn't really expecting to over the weekend. Does anyone that's used them before know if they keep you up-to-date via email like I was with Vodafone? When I placed my order I just entered my home number and not my mobile (I was that keen to place the order I forgot, haha). So I won't be receiving updates by text, but hoping I'll be kept updated via email instead.

I'm in the same boat as you pal, I have my order confirmation as well. Pretty sure orange do not work over the weekends. The next email I'm expecting is "shipped" lol

In the email you should have a link to http://www.orange.co.uk/ordertracking pop in your order number and what do you get?
It says on mine that the phone is being readied for despatch.

I can only assume it means it's going to be with me on Friday.. I hope!

Haha, that would be nice! I'm expecting/hoping I get another email on Monday or something, just to keep me in the loop. Even if it's just a 'Welcome to Orange' one with my new number or something, like I got last year with Vodafone, lol. That would keep me happy for a day at least knowing I was being kept up-to-date.

Cheers for that. I missed that in my email because all the content was pretty crammed together and I never bothered reading it all, haha. Just re-read it and it was near the bottom of the email.

I've entered my order number in and have exactly the same as you - 'Readied for dispatch'.

Orange did this with the 4S release last year. They told everyone 30 days when they ordered, but during the course of the week leading up to release they gradually started processing orders and changing the information to show the exact delivery date.
I preordered mine late in the afternoon on the first dag of preorders and received it on release day.
And forget about the EE and 4G stuff, thats got nothing to do with orange at this stage as its going to be run as a separate network.

Not greatly impressed by Orange with this. Clicking on the upgrade from the preorder page seemed to just take me to the normal online store with no option for the iphone5, maybe I was just being stupid but it took a long time to click that I needed to enter my phone # into the eligibility box. Combined with a busy day at work it meant I only managed to make my order by mid afternoon so I figure there's slim to no chance of getting one at launch.
Initially I got an email telling me my order was ready for dispatch and would be delivered on the 18th(!), yesterday I got a text telling me they will let me know when it is ready to ship.

My tracking number from the original email does not work - the tracking page says it is not a valid order number (it's WS followed by a nine digit number). Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks, will try it again tomorrow - perhaps there is a backlog entering order details into the tracking system, if still no joy will give them a call.

delivery tomorrow

I've been told over text, email and 'live chat' that my iphone5 will
be delivered tomorrow. I chatted with an Orange supervisor and he confirmed it. We shall see! He said that the shops are ready and stocked with the phones.

i was sent a mail saying delivery would be today after i pre ordered on Friday. Just been told that this is a stock response as usually deliveries are 1 business day.

I also had an issue with the tracking number

Orange rep said they did not have the phones in stock to send out but that the order was definitely in the system. Check again on the 21st was the suggestion

Fantastic, not too helpful as they would only ship to my card address (not work) so I'll be needing to take the day off work to wait in for it. Impossible unless I know the date!

I'm in the exact same boat as yourself!...3 seems so much more appealing at this moment!
Any further forward with your order?

I think things have changed - read on.

Same boat here - I have neither received an email or text - upgraded on-line first thing Friday. Webpage gave me an order ref which doesn't work to track order.

Just been on the phone to Orange for 45 minutes. They told me the order has failed and it has happened a lot. At first they wanted to take payment again ("Er no, I'm not doing that, can I complain?"), then after a word with his manager, was told that emails are going out in the next couple of days telling people that 1) the order is on its way, or 2) tough, your going to have to order again and be put at the back of the, no doubt, very long queue. This was communicated to the managers at lunchtime today.

Really peed off because my Wife is a new customer to Orange and her iPhone 5 is on its way!

Typical Orange! I also upgraded friday around 10am recieved a delivery date (17th?!) and order number minutes later, also had a text saying my "shiney new phone is on its way". Funnily enough my order number isn't being recognised...
If I end up with a order failed email i'll be waving goodbye I'm afraid! especially with the new customers, as you mentioned, being priority above their long running customers!
