Buying an iPad this week

just a quick question guys. Im planning on getting the new iPad this week. Going to go for the 32gb wifi only version in black. I guess there isnt about to be a new one released this year. Also if i want to access the net and i don't have wifi i could use my iPhone and use it as a personal hotspot then and that would work?

Seeing as the new iPad was just released a couple of months ago, no, there won't be any new iPad for this year, so buy

Yes, you could use tethering assuming your current mobile contract allows it

great. I know my contact does as i have used it for my computer with no issues. Will get it on sat then. Is the apple smart cover the best option for the front of it. What about protection for the back. I really don't want to add thickness id possible. Also is a screen protector needed or wil i be ok without

I've got a smart cover on the front and a Zagg Invisible shield on the back of my iPad 2 which is probably the thinnest possible combo. I also invested in a zip up netbook carry case for when I take it out and about.

I haven't got a screen protector on it and the screen is still mint over a year later (I always close the smart cover when not in use).

Hope this helps.

I've got a clear bodyguardz thing on the back of mine. Apparently its the same material that stops cars getting chips.

Its wet apply so its easy to get it on nicely. Its not like the cheapo screen protectors that always get left with bubbles. I _think_ it can be reapplied too.
I have the clear skin one on the back and front:
Apple iPad 2 Screen Protectors and Clear Skins by BodyGuardz

Mine has been on for over 14 months now without any issues.

I also found that scum getting in between the smart cover magnets and my pad was leaving marks that i couldn't get off. With the bodyguardz thing on i don't have that issue

Yep, you can use the smart cover with it. My smart cover was marking my ipad when bits got in between the pad and the cover hinges.
With the bodyguardz the hinge goes on the protector and not directly on the pad. It was an added bonus for me, but might not be a problem for you.

I've got the bodyguardz back and front and the smart cover. I use the smart cover for propping it up more than anything.

I got mine from ebay as couldn't find any retailers in the uk.

Me too, except I've got the Incipio Smart Feather. Good because it clips round the smart cover hinge so you don't accidently pull the smart cover off. Very thin and a good feel to it.
