The easiest J/B was jailbreakme.com. This one wasn't bad though

Stupid question do you need to upgrade to 4.2.1 via iTunes or does greenpoison upgrade you automatically?

You'll be fine, just be careful not to update when a new update is released.

I posted this on the iphone thread but there is probably more chance of it getting seen here so apologies for posting here as well. I hope that’s ok?

I’m fairly new to this ipad jail breaking thing, having only done it once before, so need a bit of an idiots guide if someone could help please.

Currently I have a 3.2.2 jailbroken ipad with only a couple of apps loaded from itunes and MyWi purchased from Cydia. I also have some music and movies that I have manually added from itunes rather than a full sync.

I want to go for the latest iOS and jailbreak again so that I can continue using Mywi. As I understand it I must first back up the ipad but I’m not sure of the best/simplest way to go about this.

There is little on it so I could easily drag everything I want on again but I certainly don’t want to have to repurchase the apps from itunes or Cydia.

Do I also need to back up Cydia and if so again how do I do this?

Once I have backed up I’m pretty confident that its just a case of connecting the ipad to itunes and clicking to upgrade to the latest iOS. I then understand that I must download the Windows jailbreak on this thread and follow the instructions.

How do I then restore my apps (shutterstitch and Mywi) and will I also need to re-enter my settings in those apps?

Thanks in advance for any help. I’m sure its simple but would appreciate an idiots walkthrough.

Turn off multitasking on iPad 4.2.1

If you want to disable multi-tasking on iPad FW 4.2.1, you need to SSH into your device

go to -----------> System/library/coreservices/springboard.app/K48AP.plist

about half way down in the .plist find the multitasking line and change it from 'true' to 'false'

Just in case anyone like me wants to disable multitasking.

I don't need app running in background on my iPad.

Did mine OK. Only slight oddity was wifi didnt auto connect after reboot so Loader got stuck; once sorted Cydia was fine. Nothing else seems to be broken...

What tweak did you use to disable multitasking on the iPad?

I tried "disable multitasking" in cydia but that does not seem to be iPad compatible.

Another user Cydia App is "ScrollingBoard" ($1.50). It adds the Orientation Lock Icon, Brightness slide, iPod Controls (Previous, Play, Next), Volume Control and iPod Icon on the springboard Dock instead of double clicking home button to access it

Chortle chortle

I was assuming the V1 iPads would be existing stock clearing through hence being on 4.2.1
