o2 smtp question

Hey Guys,

Wondering if anyone can help.

I have my work email set up on my outlook using pop3 and after a few hours pulling my hair out when i could receive emails but not send, i realized that not only do i need to have my smtp as: smtp.o2.co.uk BUT i need to authenticates it.

Fine now working sending and receiving.

The question, if i take my laptop to "Jimbo's" house on say Pipex will i be able to send emails??? i was told "NO" due to my o2 smtp.
Soooo i did have since found out that all i need to do is change my smtp to relay.o2broadband.co.uk and no need for authentication. Can anyone back this up?

Also another question, Because i use Pop3 where all emails are downloaded on my outlook and often I delete and fill to different folders, but this does not get replicated back on to the host server... can anything be done so it is replicated?

S
