First post - connection help please.........

Freeview TV - 2 scarts
Standard sky box - 2 scarts
DVD recorder 2 scarts

I wish to be able to record sky and watch freeview tv, or record freeview tv and watch sky.

What's the suitable connection scenario please, been ripping my hair out for hours yesterday.

To further complicate if at all possible but not essential, I have an old Playstation1 (scart) I'd like to permanently connect if at all possible to play through the TV, I do have a manual scart three way switch if necessary, but my main priority is the recording scenarios above.

Thanks in advance.

Gaz

Re: First post - connection help please.........

How many scart sockets does your TV have?

The scart sockets on the sky and freeview should be labelled, something like TV and VCR.

Your DVD recorder will only have 1 scart input and 1 scart output to TV I assume, so you need to use the switch to switch between recording sources.

So

Scart SkyTV to TV

Scart SkyVCR to switch

Scart FreeviewTV to TV

Scart FreeviewVCR to switch

Scart switch to DVD recorder, you can now switch between recording Sky and Freeview.

Scart DVD recorder to TV

Scart Playstation to TV

This assumes you have 4 scart inputs on the TV, if you have 1 or 2 or 3 then you need another switch.

Hi Tony and thanks for your reply, I don't think I explained clearly, the TV is digital and has freeview built in, it has two scart sockets, does this make things any easier.

Re: First post - connection help please.........

Depends on what the scarts say on the TV, I reckon 1 will be for input and the other for output to DVD recorder, so

Scart SkyTV to TV

Scart SkyVCR to switch

Scart FreeviewTV to TV NOT NEEDED

Scart Freeview(TV out) to switch

Scart switch to DVD recorder, you can now switch between recording Sky and Freeview.

Scart DVD recorder to TV

Scart Playstation to TV

Re: First post - connection help please.........

Hi Tony and thanks again for your continued input, however I remain confused as your latest post still appears to refer to three scart connections on the TV and I only have two, both of which appear to be inputs (as both have the same 'arrow in' symbol)

You state :

Scart SkyTV to TV

Scart Freeview(TV out) to switch

Scart DVD recorder to TV

Unless I'm misunderstanding, three TV scart connections ?

Thanks again.
