Connection query- HDMI / Component

Looking for a bit of advice please. I have a Panasonic TH42PX60 plasma, Denon AVR1907 amp and Denon 1730 DVD. Currently the DVD (& other stuff) is connected via component to the amp then from amp to screen again via component. Having just bought a Foxsat HD box, I need to add an HDMI cable into my conduits for that, so am wondering whether there would be any advantage to be gained by also connecting the DVD via HDMI to the screen. If so when using HDMI, will the 1703 still output an audio signal through it's "normal" socket so I can still use the amp for sound. Would I see any benefit as I am already really pleased with the PQ I get (even though wierdly the screen says "576p input", despite the DVD being set at 720p!?). Any advice welcome - thanks!

Denon 1930,i use one too so i can safely say you can use the coaxial out for sound and hdmi for pic at the same time.

You can even use the the 6 analogue outs if you want as well.

Re: Connection query- HDMI / Component

Thanks Ian! Just tried it & it works fine that way.
However, with regard to PQ, I can't see a great deal of difference in picture quality whether on component or HDMI (with 1080i setting on DVD player).
Is this because the TV alters whatever input it gets anyway to a suitable format for the screen? Or is it my eyes?!

Re: Connection query- HDMI / Component

I couldn't see a difference between component and hdmi either,in fact,if you could i'd be more concerned.Just means everthing is as it should be.

So there's nowt' to be worried about.
