Talking Which component switch is best? help! :)

I have 4 component devices with optical audio that need to be hooked up, what is the best device to use. So far i have found

JoyTech Control Center 540C
Universal Joytech AV CONTROL CTR S240
Universal System Selector Pro 2.0 (by Pelican Accessories)

I believe the joytech 540 and the s240 are the same thing just different formfactor.

Anybody have any of these and love them? or hate them? also is there anything out there newer and better? Needs alot of component connections and optical audio

Hello BinaryBin

YUV + Stereo and Digital audio switch gear tends to fall into two camps aimed at the Gamer and the Home Theatre markets.

The Gamer units tend to offer great value for money but don't work for everyone as they can be problematic with some sources and tend not to fair too well when you have a high resolution signal plus a large Display or projected image.

Zektor offer a range of YUV switch gear aimed at the Home Theatre market - the HDS4.1 is the entry level model and worth considering; see The Media Factory

Exclamation Re: Which component switch is best? help! :)

Thanks for the response. That looks like a great unit, but no other video inputs other then component. Would be nice to have a few more connections. Although rather expensive I would rule out something great at the price. Any other recommendations? especially from looking around the ones i've mentioned don't seem to be for sale really. Anybody else with any places to buy those units, or even something new. Thanks

Hello BinaryBin

Not sure what you want in terms of support for other video signals.

Using adapter cables you can switch Composite, S-Video, YUV, RGB on SCART, RGBS and RGBHV through the HDS4.1 - though it doesn't offer any form of signal conversion between the various formats.

If you use multiple Input and Output cables you can even switch 4 x YUV + 4 S-video simultaneously - its a pretty flexible box.

If you want multiple signal type support and a single signal type output your into Video Processor territory.
