Help needed - cant use banana plugs - alternatives?

I cant use banana plugs on my speaker ends now Ive upgraded my speaker cable (too thick!!!).

The sony speakers that came with my old surround sound system (HT-SL50 I think) have those annoying inbuilt connectors (under the base!) that I have to slot the cable directly into (pressing a button whilst doing so). The whole is fairly thin.

Is there a connector I can get that will go into these holes? They seem standard (same on the back of my hifi - have to use your finger to push down the bbutton and slot in the cable at the same time - not sure the official term!).

Thanks from a dunce newbie!

If 2mm banana plugs are still too big, I would just stick with bare wire.
