Audience AU24 speaker cable

Hi,

Has anyone heard of audience au24 speaker cable. I have been recommended this cable to use in my system (in my sig) and been told its awesome. I have done a google search and all the reviews look with one reviewer saying he now uses this over his nordost valhalla cable!!

As i'm going to be paying £865 I want to make the right choice but think I've found it without spending many thousands.

Thanks

Wow....talk about reviving an old post.

I didn't buy it in the end mate, I went for some Russ Andrews stuff in the end which I was pleased with but sort of done a full circle and realised once you reach a certain point (i.e £10ish per meter) you'd struggle to tell a difference between 99% of cables.

The biggest difference I've heard is between silver and copper cables with the copper sounding warmer than the silver stuff.

Thanks
Mark

Well, I did and have been using them now for about 4 years. Stunning cables which are so detailed on good equipment but which you simply must audition because of the price (£1-3k per pair depending on length).

However, I wouldn't recommend them for rock/heavy/bass-heavy stuff as they tend to resolve it alsmost too much and can appear a bit bass-light.

My dilemna now is whether or not to change them!! And in particular... what for.

BTW I don't subscribe to the view that you can't tell the difference between most cables. I have auditioned lots of cables and quite a few have very distinct charateristics.

I never said you can't tell the difference between certain cables if you read my post but the biggest difference for me was changing between QED Silver Spiral which is really thick silver cable to some Russ Andrews Monocle X (around £1K for a 2m length)

I think a decent cable is a must, throughout including HDMI etc etc but something along the lines of the Atlas Hyper 3 is the most I'd pay nowadays and sound wise on par with the monocle X.

Personally when spending a lot of money on cables, its well worth asking if the dealer will let you have a home demo of the cables, or if they have a loan set to send out to potential customers in return for a deposit. Some dealers will also let you buy the cables and you can return them for a full refund if you are not satisfied, provided they are in the same condition they were in at the time of purchase.

I have to agree that good cabling is important but it has to be within the context of the system. A good cable that is very good value would be the AudioQuest CV-4 at about £250.00 for a 4.5 metre pair. The CV-4 is the same as their new GO-4 cable which replaces it, and is exactly the same as the CV-4 cable except for the look of the cable and slightly different connectors.

Totally agree mate. I've moved from a 2 channel system and now have a 5.1 system comprising of mk speakers and Arcam amp. The speakers and amp are/were worth around £6000 and when I need to run a 12meter length to each rear it would not be economically viable for me to run anything more than £7.50 for the rears.

If I put together another two channel system I may again look at something a bit fancy but not sure if I'd buy new cables again.
