Lifting Carpets for Speaker Cable

I would like to run some cable to some rear speakers but worry about how to do it. Just had carpet fitted a few months back.

Could i somehow push it down between carpet and skirting? If I lift the carpet how do you get it back to how it was? I'm clueless....

Best bet is to run the cables against the wall between to gripperods and the skirting. If your cables are thick, you'll have to lift the rods and bring them in a little. Or, just cut a channel in your underlay against the gripper rod if they are glued down and lay them on the room side of the rods.
Carpet should kick back, ie. loosely lay back flat and kick back towards the wall from a couple of feet out, preferably with trainers on. Then just stamp in against the skirting. Just get a scraper and tuck it in after. You are better doing this as carpet fitters stretch your carpet slightly. Made it sound far more complicated than it is, just go for it.

When i did mine i used a blunt knife to lift the leading corner of the carpet up then pushed the speaker cable down the back of the gripper rod (qed micro) the carpet was then slid back in with the blunt knife job done.

Re: Lifting Carpets for Speaker Cable

A wall paper scraper works a treat for pushing the QED Micro cable down between the skirting and the carpet/gripper rod.
