Running Playstation 2 through AV reciever

Hi Guys,
Couldnt quite find the answer to my question.
Im running a Playstation 2 into my NAD T753, the ead from the PS2 is a monstaer composite cable.
If I run a video composite from my AV reciever to my LCD the picture is ok but a bit grainy.
So I thought I'd buy an ok quality SVideo lead (Ixos), I ran the Svideo lead from the amp to the LCD and the picture is worse than with composite, colours are bad and even more grainy.

Any ideas?

thanks guys

Does your LCD accept component? If it does get a component lead for your PS2 and a component lead to connect your amp to your LCD. This will give youthe best quality. Alternatively you could just take the PS2 component lead straight to the LCD and use the optical out of your PS2 for the sound only

Re: Running Playstation 2 through AV reciever

S-VHS from your amp isn't going to have an improvement if the PS2 is only composite. Component would be best but I use a PS2 S-VHS lead from my PS2 to my amp and then SVHS to the TV.

S-VHS is a noticeable improvement over composite for the PS2. My PS2 lead has 3 plugs on the end, SVHS and Red and White stereo L+R, There aren't many PS2 games that actually have DD or DTS (GTA Vice City is the only one that springs to mind, it has DTS sound) so the optical could be unnecessary.

Of course all of this was in the days before PS3
