I have recently purchased a new 19" LCD HD Widescreen TV, I have Sky Digital connected via a scart lead and have the Sky picture settings and TV settings set to 16:9.

Most channels display in 16:9 format, but others like Sky Sports etc stay as 4:3 and I have to manually select 16:9 to get them to fill the screen. Is there any way I can force every channel to default to 16:9, maybe I need a different scart cable or something?

I'd imagine the channels you mention are actually broadcasting 4:3 pictures, when you switch to 16:9 to fill the screen is the image stretched? If it is then your TV is actually working the way it should.

Make sure SCART Control is set to On and that RGB is selected. As the above poster says sometimes programmes (ITV football is notorious for it with annoying bars at the side of the screen) are broadcast in 4:3. However, setting your sky box to RGB, 16:9 and SCART control = on should ensure it is setup correctly.
