Post home cinema speakers to tv cable?

Hi there I am going to be buying a home cinema dvd system this -http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-DAV-DZ2.../dp/B000NVWCTS or this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/SAMSUNG-Home...sbs_ce_title_5 .Basically i am wanting to hook up the speakers to the tv so they play whilst watching normal tv not just dvd`s.What cables will i need to enable this? And will the home cinema system be provided with them when i buy or do i need to buy these?
I have a samsung 32" hd tv shown here http://www.directtvs.co.uk/Samsung_3...DX/version.asp If it matters which tv it is?

Help would be welcome
thanks
deonn.

Re: home cinema speakers to tv cable?

The Sony is an utter waste of time, it has one input on the front for STEREO only.
The Samsung is basically a 2.1 stereo system, put does have a optical input for 5.1 input (BUT ONLY ONE) for TV sound you normally need one of these http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/PH002.html and fit to a stereo input phono socket.
OR better still get a AV starter system (£220) (Receiver and speakers 5.1) add a HDMI upscaling DVD player (£50) and you will not have input issues they normally come with 2 opticals + 1 coax and 1 5.1 direct in for real surround sound connectivity, + an assortment of stereo inputs.

Agree on the Sony and The Samsung I suspect would be dissapointing.

For £249 you could go for the top option on this page:

http://www.richersounds.com/informat...ecinemasystems

Which would be tonnes better.

Hi there , i dont really know a lot about what im talking about but..
why is it better? What does the Receiver do? , i was swaying towards the samsung because i could plug my usb pen into it and play music off my mp3 , and i could link the speakers to play normal tv with a phono cable with the samsung x200r system?

Re: home cinema speakers to tv cable?

Simply sound quality.

Plus you also have a good upgrade path, maybe a replacement HD-DVD player or Blu ray could be added, maybe an upgrade to better speakers at a later date.

With a 1 box you would have to replace the whole system.

Its very rare to find a system (be it HT or stereo "midi systems") that sounds as good as budget seperates for a similar price.

As you said in your PM if its for a bedroom as a 2nd system then one of the systems you mentioned could be ideal but I stand by my opinion, with your budget (I guess about 250ish) I'd go for the seperates package I mentioned.
