help..best configuration for AV system

I have

an old Yamaha DSP-E800, a new Samsung H753 DVD, a new 60" 60pc45 LG Plasma screen and I've just had a V+ box installed.

dvd has HDMI x 1
V+ has HDMI x 1
and Plasma has HDMI x 1 and HDMI DVI x 1 and 1x optical out

now the processor has 3 x optical inputs and 2 x coaxial inputs.

How should I link my system together. I assume the HDMI takes over from the scarts but I need to link the processor to the system so my thoughts are

HDMI DVI from TV to DVD
HDMI from TV to V+ box
1 x optical input to TV optical output
1 x coaxial input to DVDs coaxial output
1 x optical input to V+ box optical output

Then obviously rig my processor up to my power amps, rear and front speakers and the sub

Have I got this right ? will my SCART leads now be redundant and do I need to rig the processor up to all 3 units as above to get it to work with all three.....or can I drop the 1 x optical input to TV optical output connection since the TV can only broadcast from either the satelite box or the DVD therefore it will be unecessary to connect the TV up as well.

Thanks in advance....any tips appreciated like is optical preferred over coaxial etc.

to connect the dvd to the TV using the two

Re: help..best configuration for AV system

Unless you use the TV tuner then theres no need to connect the TV to the amp for sound, direct from your sources is fine, just use the TV as a moniter.

Everything else sounds fine.

No preference with opt/coax personally. I like to think optical is less perceptible to interference but either is fine.

You may need (you may not) to plug DVD or V+ in via scart to get the menus to enable HDMI. It might autodetect the HDMI so this might not be necessary and would be temporary anyway.

Re: help..best configuration for AV system

Cheers JimBob ....have been off the AV scene for a few years (as you may be able to tell by my processor).

I've heard HDMI is the way to go but I've also been told that a good set of quality component RCA leads will be just as good if not better do you still get HD by linking with component leads or can HD only be achieved via HDMI
