xbox 360 help.

Lo folks, how would be the best way to connect an xbox 360 to my system to benefit from full sound. system is as follows.

panny 42" plasma, px600.

denon DH 500 dvd player/amp.

sony powerd sub.

Gale bi-pole,in the back room to give 6.1.

virgin V+ box.

At the mo my denon is connected to panny via component. the V+ is connected direct via hdmi and sound from V+ via digi/optical lead. so basically when i play dvd i select compt on the tv. so i have a spare hdmi slot.
i,m thinking splitting the compt??. but ive also seen a comp to hdmi converter so i could connect xbox to spare hdmi slot but if i go this option, what about the sound?

Any advice greatly received. TA PK.

Re: xbox 360 help.

No need to split the component video, get a Xbox 360 VGA cable as your plasma has a spare VGA socket.

For the audio you have a few choices as your home cinema only has one optical and one coaxial digital input. The Xbox 360 only outputs optical TOSLINK digital audio, like your V+ box.

Get a TOSLINK splitter, which I have read is able to work the other way and combine two optical signals into one input (but the devices would have to never be on at the same time)

or a TOSLINK switch to independently select the source via a manual switch

or get a Optical to coaxial digital converter to connect straight into the second input on your home cinema
