Speaker Cable Short list.

Hi,

I'm in the process of decorating our lounge and want to take this opportunity to replace my speaker cables. Ideally I need to get something in the next week or two so that I can get the cables down before carpet and things arrive, and so was wondering if anyabody could give me a short list of cables for me to consider, baring in mind the following:

- I Don't want to, or have time to, make up my own cables.
- I want to Bi-wire front mains (and possible center) and just run straight cable to rears.
- Preferably all cables should be matched in terms of manufacturer and quality.
- Lengths required will be approx 2x2m (Fronts), 1x1m (Center) and 2x 8m (rears).
- Cable has to be flexible enough to go round skirting and lay under carpet in places.
- Preferably, cable to rears should be white.
- Speakers are KEF Q7s, Q9C and Compacts.
- Current Amp is a Denon 3802, likely to be upgared to a 3807/8, when out.
- I haven't got a strict budget, but I guess I'm looking in the same sort of price range as the the likes of QED Silver Anniversay.

Comments suggetstions gratefull received.

Many thanks,

Jubbly

Not sure what you mean by "make my own cables". I buy bell-wire already manufactured. It has white insulation and is quite thin so it bends easily and goes under carpets. Just cut it to length, strip the ends and shove it into the spring connectors. Works great!

Re: Speaker Cable Short list.

Depends what sort of sound you are looking for, not that familar with the characteristics of the kef q series.

If you like quite detailed sound then qed silver aniversary could be a good option and you can get slightly cheaper cable for the rears qed micro or original.

On the other hand if you want a slightly richer sound then Van den huls bridge cable might work well, though Im not sure it comes in bi-wire form.

Maybe pop into a good local dealers if you get time, they might be able to better advise.

The problem I have is that there aren't that many local dealers within easy reach of me. The couple I have been to have not been much help. The only thing i did learn was that the QED SA cable is very rigid so it could prove a problem laying round corners etc. I'm going out agoian at the weeked, and willhope fully have a bit more luck. I'm just trying to draw up some sort of short list to work with. As you probably appreciate, there are sooo many cables to choose from out there, it's difficult to sift through.

I notice from your sig that you are using Atlantic cables in your set up, which funnily enough I happend across on the net today. The Equator series would be more in my price bracket for me though. Out of interest what made you made you go with this make of cable? I hadn'r heard of them until today.

Cheers,

Jubbly

Okay,

What are your views on:

- Black Rhodium Jive
- Chord Carnival
- QED Silver Aniversary
- QED Silver Anniversary XT (still think is probably a little too rigid.

Thanks,

Jubbly.
