SCART wall socket - help please.

Hi,

I hope somebody can help. In brief I've installed a plasma screen and DVD play connected by a fully wired scart lead. All worked fine.
I've now concealed the scart in the wall, one end at the TV the other soldered to a scart pattress (see link).
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...=1035&doy=15m6
I've checked each of the pins with a circuit tester and all appear correct. Trouble is when I connect the DVD nothing works.

I've been advised that it might be necesary to "cross-wire" some pins but could do with some proper guidance.

Any help appreciated.

thanks

Mike

Re: SCART wall socket - help please.

Hi'

I've just done the same

My scart cable (buried in the wall) is connect 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 etc I then use a standard scart lead between then wall socket and my DVD player and all is working well.

You need to ensure that the lead between your TV and the socket are wired 1-1 etc otherwise the pins that cross in the scart cable are cancelled in your installed cable

Hope this helps

Stuart

Re: SCART wall socket - help please.

Many thanks. I think I've just realised what I've done but could do with having it confirmed before getting the soldering iron out.
Am I right in thiking that Scart leads aren't wired pin to pin but that some pins are swapped (19 -> 20, 20 -> 19, 1 -> 2, 3 -> 6).
If that's the case I have wired TV to wall socket - swapping pins. But then when I connect a Scart from wall socket to DVD the pins are again swapped.

thanks

Mike

Re: SCART wall socket - help please.

Yes you are right, for instance audio out on a sky box, would need to connect to the audio in pin on the TV etc etc.

Have a look here for a clear diagram of what is going on:
