DVI I or D?

Ok,Im not spending a fortune but I just want to check if these cables will work before I order them

This is the scenario:

Ive ordered a PS3,
my PJ(Sanyo z2) doesnt have a HDMI port and the component is used for my virgin v+ box
The pj has a DVI port which my pc is connected via
I have a spare hdmi cable

so I thought I would get a HDMI to DVI converter,a DVI switcher and another DVI cable -so it would be PS3>HDMI>DVI converter>DVI switch>PJ and PC>DVI switch>PJ.

Is there any reason this wouldnt work? The only thing Im concerned about really is the port on the PJ (and hdmi to dvi converter) says DVI-I and the DVI cables Im gonna order say DVI-D ,will this be a problem or does it not matter?
Cheers

Re: DVI I or D?

Shouldn't matter. You'll just lose the extra connections that DVI-I has which are simply RGBHV/VGA analogue ones.

Re: DVI I or D?

Hello Mr Jason B

You need to ensure the DVI 'Selector; is HDCP compliant - if not it wont work with any Sources that carry HDCP encryption over HDMI or DVI.

You also need to watch out for the total cable length - especially when going through a passive 'Selector'; you may run into problems.
