Need of desperate Help Please.

Trying to get sound from my playstation 3.

When i hooked it up for the first time i was suprised to find my phillips "HD READY" LCD didn't have a hdmi connection only dvi which i was extremley ****** of with considering i spent £1400 on it a couple of years ago.

Obviously now i should of looked for that before i bought it.But as a novice it said hd ready which was good enough for me.

Anyway got the hdmi to dvi cable to get the picture
which was superb. And the someone suggested connecting an optical cable from my playstation 3 to my 5.1 dvd player to get the sound which i did.

Then went into settings on the ps3 to change the audio setting to optical audio cable. i have a few settings on my dvd amp aux/ana,aux/dig and tv/aux.Tried them all but still no sound.

Is their a way of getting the sound sorted as i dont really fancy forking out for another tv?

Dont connect from the PS3 to DVD player but to your amp, there will be an optical in socket on it.

Re: Need of desperate Help Please.

Hi.
I just downloaded the manual for your all in one system. Page 9 of the manual show the back with all the connectivity. It also shows the digital terminals. As far as I can see, according to the manual, you only one optical port and thats for output. It does not have any optical input ports. The only digital input connection you have available on the unit is a coaxial RCA/phono connection. You would need to connect your PS3 to this terminal. If the PS3 only has an optical out, then you will need a converter. Something like this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...c=so&U=strat15

Optical cable from PS3 to converter, RCA/phono coax from converter to all in one unit.
