Component from a Sky Box via a Monster Converter

Hi All,

I wonder if you can help, I have a Sony Bravia 32V2000 linked with component in AV3 and HDMI in AV4 running down to a Sony STR-DG700

The DVD player is working fine through HDMI and all the sound is coming through no hassles. However, I have my sky box connected via Video 2 with a Monster Scart to Component Converter at the Sky end and Component going into the Amp. The sound is coming through fine from two seperate phono plugs when Video 2 is selected as source but no vision.

I am not sure if I am being thick. I have tested the converter and the component lead and all seems okay.

Am I missing something simple?

Thanks in advance

Alan

Im not sure but I dont think you will get a picture that way. You will either have to connect via scart or upgrade to Sky HD and use the component connection there.

Re: Component from a Sky Box via a Monster Converter

Hello Monster_2003

Your 'Converter' is actually a passive 'Adapter' - it relies on your Source device having the ability to Output YUV 'Component' on its SCART socket; which is not an option with SKY or SKY+.

You require an RGB2YUV converter that is mains powered and includes active signal processing - see http://www.js-technology.com/product...1af53b6c72926f

If you have SKY+ you could revert to S-Video Out and let your AV Receiver do its 'conversion' tricks.

Best regards

Joe

Re: Component from a Sky Box via a Monster Converter

Hello AnilS

Yes the CYP CSY2100 (QED re-badge it) is a lower cost option - its good value if not quite as good as the JS-Technology unit; though the difference may not be so apparent on a smaller Display.
