PlayStation PS2 to LCD Monitor

I am trying to connect my PS2 to a LCD montior, Viewsonic VA1912W 19" Widescreen TFT to be precise. Audio signal is not an issue.

I have component and composite cables for my PS2 (and even the RF cable from PSone) and the monitor has DVI-D or VGA inputs.

1) Will this adapter work for me:

2) Is there a better quality option, i.e. does anyone know of a component to DVI D or VGA version of the above as I cannot find one?

Thanks.

Am I correct in thinking that composite, component and VGA are all analogue so should be a straight forward convert?

Whereas DVI D being digital wouldn't convert to any of the above 3 with a simple dongle type adapter?

I would be grateful is someone could direct me to a useful site that would explain this to me, thanks.

no its not that straightforward a convert. The frequency and timinggs are all different. The PS2 can generate 640x480 VGA native, but you need a cbale sold only with the now unavailable Linux kits. I suggest you try lektropacks, keene electronics or lik-sang. At lektropacks and Keens you are looking for component or composite to VGA. At lik sang they will have something that does PS/2 to VGA. I have on eof these but did not think the quality was that great. But I dont't really use it anymore as my PS2 is connected via component to my Pioneer 50" plasma.

Cheers

Rajiv

Thanks for the info Rajiv, i was starting to think it's a lonely place in cyberspace!

I checked out Lektropacks but couldn't find anything suitable, (notice the blond getting in that fella's way while he's trying to watch his tv on the home page)
Keene had a Video to XGA converter, product code AVT3300, but it's £70 so I think i'll go for the lik-sang.

Thanks again, Dan

nice TV btw...
