Speaker cable advice

I'm hoping to get either some Monitor Audio Bronze BX1 or Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers to go with a Denon DM38. I've heard a lot about speaker cables making a big difference to the performance of a system, so what kind of cable should I be looking at?

If it makes any difference, the cable length will be pretty short, no more than 2ft!

There is no need to get anything expensive and it will make no difference as long as you get a reasonably thick cable. Just get some 2.5mm oxygen free copper cable for around £1 per metre and you will be fine. Anything more than this is really just paying for a name and will give you no tangible benefit.

OK, that's great thanks.

I've also heard people talking about Banana plugs. What are they and am I going to need these as well to connect a Denon DM38 to a pair of Wharfedale 9.1s? Again, what quality do I need?

Sorry if this all seems a bit bone, but I'm just about to order this online and want to make sure I've go everything I need!

Thanks again

You don't need banana plugs really, unless the wires need to be disconnected regularly.

If you do want some then I use these and find them very good -

Though many others use cheaper Nagamichi plugs and seem happy with them.
