Left/Right Rear Speaker cable run, Is it okay to cut and resolder connections?

Hi All,

I'm looking to run some of the following:

QED QONTOUR Ultra-Flat Speaker Cable - FutureShop.co.uk

Ultra flat cable from my Home Cinema box to the 2 rear speakers at the back of the room. I'm planning to run the ultra flat under the laminate.

My Home Cinema system (Samsung HTZ310R Home Cinema) has plastic connectors (2 wires coming out of each, Red/Black) for each speaker. My question is, can I just cut into these wires and then solder the ultra flat cable onto them? Don't know if this will cause problems with the audio quality?

Thanks for any advice,

Bazza.

That should be fine.

I helped a mate fit laminate flooring. There should be a gap for expansion all the way around which you trim using a small piece of moulding. We used this gap to hide a normal speaker cable rather than the flat stuff. Another option is to cut a groove in the underlay and use this for you cable. Again you can use slightly cheaper round cable.

I used some electric flex I had a roll of kicking around in my garage.
