Currently running cat 5 around the house and would like a tv socket in the kitchen. Instead of running normal coax, to futureproof could i run cat 5 between the 2 rooms and use blackbox video baluns IC440a between them?

Video-Only Balun - IC440A - Shop now - Black Box

Re: Tv cable

As long as your happy viewing in silence it will work fine

To future proof your home your best bet is to install lots of conduit that allows you to easily pull through any new cables as and when required.

If you want to pre wire I'd suggest you run an RF plus a CAT5 network - use multiple CAT5 if you want a Data network plus a network of twisted pair cables to carry video and audio signals using appropriate Balun.
