Kimber speaker cable - Are there any tests/reviews

I've done a google search but not come up with anything.

I'd like to see some 'group tests'.

Thanks

Review here. Not a group test admittedly.

Another one:

The Stereotimes review reads like a love letter, so I'd discount that one immediately.

However to get such a positive review from Audioholics is a fine achievement indeed. Measurable(!!) advantages over other candidates, and whilst the reviewer admits it made no audible difference, at least you can be confident that you've bought a truly well engineered audiophile product far more capable than it needs to be.

Personally, I would never spend that much - but at least Kimber appear to be honest in their approach so if you've got a budget to match their high price tags, maybe they're worth considering.

Ben
I just bought some XRL cable from you.
Just wondering what speaker cable you would recommend for my Primare I30 amp and Cambridge Audio 840C cd player I am getting in the near future.

Would Atlas Hyper 2.0 (or 3.0, not too sure yet) would be fine?

Atlas Hyper 2.0 speaker cable - From £15.75 - HiFiCables.co.uk

You seem to know a lot more about these things than I do.

Thanks

Re: Kimber speaker cable - Are there any tests/reviews

I try to stay away from outright telling people what they should do with their money! I feel most comfortable helping people find information and letting them make their own minds up.

Have a read around these forums. It seems to me that a growing number of people are beginning to agree with the collective evidence that where speaker cable is concerned, cross sectional area is the most important factor to consider, and that only poorly designed cables are audibly distinguishable (that phrase is borrowed from Audioholics).

My personal opinion therefore is that the Atlas cable you link to is about £12 more expensive per metre than it needs to be. I just can't see any advantage over an inexpensive 2.5mm cable, which you can get for less than £1 per metre. The Van Damme range of speaker cable is popular on here as far as branded cables go, and weighs in at less than £2 per metre.

You asked whether it would 'be fine' and the answer is of course, 'Yes'. But will it do the job any better than a massively cheaper well-engineered cable? In my opinion, no.
