Sony VRD-MC5 mains replacement for supplied pin

Hi Guys,

A bit of a strange one for you! I have just bought a Sony VRD-MC5 DVD recorder for me and my father to share (mainly to copy his old Mini DV and my HDD camcorder recordings easily).

I ordered from PurelyGadgets.co.uk and was hoping the machine would be a UK supplied one but it has turned up with a 2 pin plug. Now thats okay with me but my Dad is a tad old school and will be a bit 'funnyrolleyes:' about it. Is there an off the shelf 3 pin replacement I could get to save myself grief before he see's it this weekend???

Thanks for anyone that takes the time to help me

Presumably it's just a fig 8 mains cable? You could just put a 3 pin plug on the end!

Thanks for the reply, so it's okay to either just buy (as per your link) or cut the wrong plug off and replace. Cool It probably seems obvious to you but to me I don't want to cause any harm to the new machine. Thanks again.

Yes, that is perfectly fine and only requires a pair of cutters and a screwdriver plus a standard 13 amp plug - fit it with a 3 or 5 amp fuse, not the 13 amp one that comes as standard.
