Portable battery pack / power outlet?

Hi everyone, sorry if this is in the wrong place, was unsure as to where it should be.

Basically a while ago i saw this battery pack which was literally a masssive battery, and it had a 3 pin plug on it. so you would charge this big ass battery, and then it it could be used to charge / power anything with a 3 pin plug for a few hours.

i thought it was phillips, but can't seem to find it!

does anyone know what i'm talking about? or know naything similar?

cheers!

Re: Portable battery pack / power outlet?

I'm not sure there is a good forum here to ask your question in, but if it allowed you to use a normal mains plug with it then there was probably an inverter there as well so try looking for inverters with a battery.

Re: Portable battery pack / power outlet?

What are you trying to power and for how long in battery mode?

Re: Portable battery pack / power outlet?

hi - thanks for replying, much appreciated.

cheers, will have a look for inverters.

any number of things, just thought it could be useful, like could give my laptop a few extra hours, or keep my speakers going without mains for a few hours.

i swear i saw it on an email from ebuyer, but i must be mistaken!

cheers,

Re: Portable battery pack / power outlet?

That'll be a generator your after

A PC style UPS usually gives you a few minutes of 'emergency' power for a desktop PC and Monitor - but not hours and hours of battery time.

Uninterruptible power supply - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Re: Portable battery pack / power outlet?

If you saw it on an eBuyer email, then Joe is probably right - you'll have seen a UPS advertised and slightly misunderstood what they're used for.

CERTAINLY not portable! UPSes are very very bulky heavy items!
